Before Damen can say something warm and comforting, Laurent's taking his cake and oh... right.

He didn't exactly think this through, but even so.

"...I don't think we'll get more entrapped if we eat it."

Laurent fixes Damen with a flat, unimpressed stare.

“And you’re willing to bet your life on that?”

It’s not even a genuine question, because Laurent knows as he says the words that Damen will just throw his entire life behind any fucking thing, if he believes in it enough (especially so if there’s a blonde figurehead to believe in.) So, after he speaks he immediately huffs in aggravation as he thinks of something more productive to follow up with.

“Why don’t we,” he steps in close to Damen, which is a little awkward with him holding two plates of cake- “go back to the kitchens and eat there? Just the two of us.”

It’s not his most seductive tone of voice, it’s actually quite conversational, but his blonde privilege will make up the difference.

"Are you sure the kitchen food is any different?"

And then Laurent is in his space and wow, Damen thought he'd be used to this by now, but Laurent can still get under his skin like no one else. It works, of course it works, but he can see what Laurent's doing.

"You know you don't need to seduce me, right? I'm already yours."

He punctuates this by stepping in, smiling softly, completely forgetting about the cakes in Laurent's hands until he bumps into the plates.

The question draws another sigh from the blonde; he knows that while the distinction between kitchen and party food matters to him, it is what Damen would call extremely Veretian with its basis on context and conjecture. Damen, who seems not to realise this place is extremely Veretian- but also contributes to a rather Akielon influence rising among their ranks, of people making music on the network and insisting Laurent is likeable. It's hard to stay cold in the face of that.

“I’m not seducing you to have you. I want to get out of this party,” he leans in, delicately lifting one arm over Damen's shoulder and the other around his waist- “-but I don't want to be alone.”

All of the above is true. Laurent has simply not mentioned that- as he finally stops talking long enough to start kissing Damen in earnest- that he also wants to get rid of the fucking cake. So with his eyes closed and arms around Damen, Laurent adjusts his grip and yeets both plates into the crowd like flicking two frisbees, where they presumably explode onto some poor random partygoer.

There's a squawk from that direction. Laurent pretends not to notice- there’re only two lovers here engrossed in a moment of passion! Nothing to see here!

Damen absolutely noticed the cake yeeting and chuckles against Laurent's lips, then lifts Laurent up for better kissing access, holding him up effortlessly.

He breaks the kiss, though he keeps his forehead pressed against Laurent's. "You could have just put the plates down." But he sounds pleased and amused. He enjoys Laurent's dramatic side, which is good, since that's all of Laurent. "Kitchen, you said?"

Being picked up draws out a noise that Laurent ordinarily never makes, half-groan, half-yelp of surprise, seventy-five percent reduced to a quiet exhale because he never fucking relaxes. When the kiss ends he looks down at Damen with dark, covetous eyes.

“Common sense is for common men.” Look, he can't keep saying it's the game he likes. As for Damen's question, he adds- “Anywhere but here,” in a tone of voice that suggests they're going to give Mistie a new scandal to write about if he doesn't get the hell out of here. Not that they couldn't just strip and go at it here, but to be civic-minded, there are children and animals in this space somewhere-

From behind them, a commotion finally makes itself heard past the background noise cancellation of Being In A Hot Makeout With Your Boyfriend. Fae are screeching, “You there! Did you throw this cake at me?!” Laurent actually seems to snap out of it for a second, glancing past Damen at the scene, before he smiles with a familiar twinkle in his eye.

“Race you there?”

His form shifts, and for a moment Damen is holding a beautifully spotted leopard in his arms; before the animal leaps off him with powerful legs and takes off across the grass.
